Myoko Snow Report 21 March 2016: Current Conditions

Today is the day of the vernal equinox – it’s Spring! However it’s lightly snowing, foggy, light north westerly winds and -2 degrees here in Akakura Onsen village this morning.

It was a cold and foggy day yesterday with the sun poking its head through every now and then. Light snow began falling yesterday afternoon and we’ve picked up a few cm overnight.

Light snow and fog clearing today to bring us to a mostly sunny and warm day tomorrow. Cooling again Wednesday evening, we may see a bit more rain and then snow Wednesday night into Thursday. The chance of light snow on Friday and Saturday.

Myoko Snow Report 20 March 2016: Current Conditions

Super foggy, light drizzle and the temperature has dropped to 0 degrees this morning under the effect of this north westerly wind.

After a partly cloudy start yesterday the fog rolled in pretty quickly and we picked up very light rain for most of the day. The wind shifted from the south west to the north west overnight and the temperature has dropped, however the fog and rain have stayed with us.

The temperature will continue to drop today and we may see some light snowfall. Remaining cold tomorrow with the chance of more light snow and then warming up on Tuesday with sunshine expected. Cooling again Wednesday night and light snow expected over Thursday and Friday.

Partly cloudy and warm this morning with light winds. A bit of sun poking through every now and then.

A partly cloudy start to the day yesterday. The cloud cover increased throughout then day and rain arrived from the south west last night. It looks like most of the heavy rain has passed with only a few showers visible on the radar heading our way.

Weather Outlook

We’ve been lucky this morning as most of the heavy rain is passing by to the south. There’s still the chance of a shower today, however the temperature will drop significantly tonight as the wind shifts to the north west. Light snow tomorrow and Monday. Warming up a bit on Tuesday with the chance of light snow and then a bit more spring rain arriving on Wednesday. Cooling significantly again we’ll pick up more snow on Thursday and Friday.

High cloud cover about this morning, 5 degrees and light winds.

Clear and warm yesterday with a few clouds moving in overnight.

Weather Outlook

Cloud cover increasing throughout the day and rain arriving tonight. The rain will persist into tomorrow until the temperature drops tomorrow night and we pick up some light snow on Sunday and potentially Monday as well. Warming up again Tuesday and Wednesday and then it looks like we could get a decent dump on Thursday to finish off the season.

High cloud hanging about this morning, light south westerly winds and 2 degrees.

Big dry snowflakes fell in the morning and cleared by the evening. Mostly clear last night and the cloud cover has moved in this morning. It was a great day yesterday in Myoko ski resorts with lots of fresh spring snow to plunder and very small crowds.

Thick flakes falling in the Akakura village this morning under the effect of this cold northerly airflow. Moderate winds and -2 degrees.

Snow fell for most of the day yesterday, although it was a little warmer than today so the flakes were a little heavier and wetter. The wind shifted to the north overnight and we’ve had a nice top up of around 15cm overnight.

Partly cloudy this morning, -3 degrees and light westerly winds. Visibility is good in the village with plenty of sun, however Mt Myoko is up in the clouds.

Weather Outlook

Thick cloud cover increasing today we will see light to moderate snowfall this afternoon and tonight coming in from the west. Cooling down tomorrow, winds will shift to the north west and we’ll pick up some more dry snow. Snow clearing out Tuesday and warming up Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Sunny on Wednesday and Thursday with rain returning Friday.

Low lying cloud hanging around this morning with a bit of sun poking through every now and then. Visibility is pretty good in the village, but decreases rapidly as you head up the hill. Light north westerly winds and -2 degrees.

Snowing lightly in the village this morning and -3 degrees. Visibility is ok at the bottom lift stations but becomes pretty poor towards the top.
