Myoko Snow Report 9 March 2016: Current Conditions

Wet snow falling lightly this morning, light south westerly winds and visibility is poor.

24 Hour Recap

A sunny start yesterday before the clouds rolled in and we picked up some very light drizzle in the afternoon and evening. The temperature dropped last night and we’ve got some wet snow falling in the village.

Weather Outlook

Thick fog and snow for the rest of today. The temperature will drop throughout the day so the snow will become drier by this evening. Cold and snowing lightly tomorrow, clearing up a bit Friday and then more dry snow Friday night into Saturday. Past this it looks like another warm spring system will arrive from the south west on Monday.

Report by David Churchill / Myoko Snowsports

Myoko Snow Report 7 March 2016: Current Conditions

Foggy and warm in the village this morning. The temperature didn’t drop too much last night and we picked up a bit of rain overnight so the snow has stayed fairly soft and wet.

24 Hour Recap

Much better conditions yesterday than anticipated as the rain missed us during the day and we scored some sun and warm temps. Remaining warm overnight with fog and rain moving in.

Weather Outlook

A mix of high and low cloud cover today, it looks like we won’t see too much more rain. Clearing up tomorrow morning and then a bit more rain in the afternoon before temps drop and we get a bit of heavy snow on Wednesday. Cooling down again on Thursday as the north westerly airflow returns and we see dry snow until at least Saturday.

A few clouds hanging around this morning, light westerly winds and -3 degrees in the Akakura village.

24 Hour Recap

Cloudy yesterday with a bit of sun poking through here and there as well as a few tiny flurries of snow. The snow stayed fairly dry for most of the day due to the lack of sun and pockets of powder could still be found around the resort.

Weather Outlook

Partly cloudy for most of today, clearing out tomorrow and warming up. Winds shifting to the south by Saturday and a bit of rain arriving Saturday night and continuing into Sunday. It looks like we’ll see a bit of snow on Wednesday as it cools down again.

Myoko Snow Report 2 March 2016: Current Conditions

Another awesome day out on the hill today with plenty of fresh pockets of snow around the place. It cooled down significantly yesterday so the snow has stayed dry and firm. Light westerly winds and -6 degrees.

24 Hour Recap

We usually get a bit more snow on the tail end of these systems than is forecast and that was no different yesterday. Only one or two cm was predicted and it ended up lightly snowing for most of the day. By the evening it had mostly cleared up and we’ve had a partly cloudy and cold night.

Myoko Snow Report 2 March 2016

Weather Outlook

Slowly warming up over the next five days as southerly winds take over from these westerlies. Plenty of cloud about over the next two days we’ll most likely get a mix of light snow, overcast and partly cloudy conditions. Sunny Friday and Saturday before more rain arrives on Sunday unfortunately. Cooling down again Monday and it looks like more snow arriving Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in Myoko’s city sister Zermatt…

Weather Outlook

We’re in for a wet morning as these clouds move in from the south west. Winds shifting to the north west through the day and the temperature will slowly drop to turn that rain into snow by this evening. Strong north westerly winds and heavy snow tonight, continuing into tomorrow. Snow easing tomorrow morning we should have some pretty awesome conditions, although the high winds will make it windblown in exposed areas.
