Myoko Snow Report 3 April 2016

One of our good days this season, but alas, not enough of them

Myoko Snow Report 3 April 2016

Last Myoko snow report for the season

It’s the last day of the season today for Akakura Onsen and Tangram. Seki Onsen and Akakan hope to keep going till May 5 but that may be a bit of a stretch given the conditions. On this note we will be closing the Myoko Snow Report off from today.

We will be back again in late November or early December as we wind up for the 2016/17 season. You can keep in touch during the off-season via our Facebook page. Thanks very much for all your support. We write the report as a service to Myoko visitors without any backing/finance from local government or resorts. As a positive this enables us to bring you a comprehensive and unbiased viewpoint throughout the season.

A very big thanks to Myoko Snowsports and Red Warehouse for their support. Get your bookings in early for next season because they get busier every year! Big thanks especially to Dave Churchill at Myoko Snowsports for all his great reports, as well as our very own Ben Ey for all his input and help in setting up this season’s reports.

Need some accommodation for next season? Check out the Myoko booking engine or send us a request.

Akakura Onsen this morning

24 Hour Recap

What a day it was yesterday. There was around 30CM of fresh by the morning and the snow continued on and off the whole day. Akakan opened up to extra lifts given the great conditions. On the sides of Champion A & B runs the snow was testicle deep. The snow was fairly heavy and wet so great care was needed in keeping up your speed on the less steep runs.

It’s dumping in Myoko! 30CM of fresh over 24 hours.

Report by Nic Klar / Red Warehouse

Before we launch into today’s report we’d just like to issue an acknowledgement of debt to David Churchill from Myoko Snowsports who has been writing these reports just about all season. David has yesterday taken off for warmer climes before heading to Falls Creek. He’s done a fantastic job on these reports and we’ve got great feedback on them. Thanks a lot David and see you next season! Big arigato gozaimasu also to Ben Ey who did all of our media at Destination Myoko Kogen, set up the reports at the start of the season and continued to contribute over the winter months. Ben is now getting in some sightseeing before returning to Australia.

Snow in the village this morning!

Myoko Snow Report 25 March 2016: Current Conditions

Well, what can we say? We’ve had one of the best dumps of the season in the last 24 hours (30CM) and it’s still coming down. It’s thigh/knee deep in the car park at Red Warehouse and will be deeper higher up the hill. Only limited lifts running today as the season winds down but there will be few crowds. There are no friends on a powder day (although I’m sure you’ll appreciate us at least staying a few extra minutes to write this!).

24 Hour Recap

Snow started Wednesday and continued throughout yesterday with light and heavy bursts. This was the view yesterday up at the Akakura Kanko Hotel.

Report by David Churchill/Myoko Snowsports

Current Conditions

Light snow and foggy this morning with around 10cm of fresh snow falling last night. Light winds and the temperature is sitting at -5 degrees. Conditions seem to be improving slowly and maybe now is the time to make that Myoko booking for February or March!

Myoko Snow Report 1 February 2016

24 Hour Recap

A mix of light snow and cloud yesterday before the snow set in last night. Temps have remained cold and winds light..

Weather Outlook

Light snow persisting today with another 10cm expected. We should see the fog lift and we may even get a bit of sunshine in the afternoon. A mix of light snow and cloudy conditions until Friday when the next proper snowfall is expected to arrive. It’s looking like around 40cm on Friday alone, but we’re still four days away so this will likely change. The good news is temps will remain cold over the next week so we won’t see anymore rain or sleet in the near future.
