I have such mixed feelings this season. What a beautiful site!! Gromit the Beagle has no idea what to think of it. When I asked what he thought, he said, "hello!!" , so I took him out for a walk to get a straight answer. As he ran on the snow, the paul Simon classic Slip Slidin' Away came to mind, and much yuki was consumed by the little scent hound. Within 5 to 10 minutes the tennis court looked like a racoon family had taken a stroll across it. If Gromit tries licking the snow that way next month, I'll dress him in a Santa suit and leave the snow beard in tact.
The local banks have said I can't get a loan for a snow plow because I am a gaikokujin (the nice old Colonel Sanders-bow-tie-wearing loan officers at Arai Shinyo Kinko where I was also told the same day at another branch in town, "we don't do loans at Arai Shinyo Kinko".) and the snow is coming down fast (but will supposedly melt this week too). Roll Eyes My kingdom for a snowplow!

Yeah Hawker, my wife used to work in the banking industry and says that mob is really tight with loans. Guess they really got burnt in the bubble time up your way. She suggested try Daishi in Arai or Noukyou near the eki in Myoko (or maybe Joetsu or Nagaoka). ganbatte ne.

Maybe some spiky shoes for Gromit?

It's official! The Myoko tourist board has put out all its posters for Akakura Kanko this year. What WAS ShinAka, is now called: Akakan!
Akakan, Akakan. Sounds like Shaka Kahn

Now to get you really ear-wigged.

"I get knocked down, but I get up again..."

"I'm on the road, from misery to happiness today, aha aha aha..."

Enjoy Akakura Scotty. Think it will be a big season.  Grin Grin Grin

The snows are startin back. 11:30 this morning, Akakan reported steady but light snowfall up top. The temps are falling fast from tonight onwards. Looks good but not until after the weekend.

Just checked the cam Hawker. Can't see any fresh snow. I was originally booked to come next weekend. Glad I moved it back to Jan.

You'd be surprised Bob. The snow can come so quickly in Myoko that there's be plenty of the white stuff within a few days. Having said that, you can't always depend on snow before New Year. Jan and Feb there will be without a doubt. Best year I remember was 1997 when I was boarding Arai (now sadly defunct) in mid November

I was just checking the cam on the Tangram page and noticed that they are making/stockpiling some snow on the main run. Guess they're hoping to open up next weekend
