Myoko Kogen Snow Report 12th February 2014
Another great day in Myoko
Myoko Kogen Snow Report
It was a very clear night last night and subsequently temperatures plummeted. It was -10 in town this morning at the Heart of Japan office and several degrees colder up on the hill. The wind chill factor at Akakura yesterday was high and will be the same today so make sure to rug up and use a face mask if you have one. I was pleasantly surprised with conditions yesterday. The piste was in great condition and there was still quite a bit of fresh stuff to find. There’s been only a wisp of snow overnight but there should be more on the way tonight and/or tomorrow. It was very sunny this morning but we are starting to get some cloud cover coming over now.
A big omedeto! to the three Olympic medal winners from Japan last night in the half pipe competition! Well done all. At only 15 years and two month sold Hirano Ayumu (pictured below) is the youngest ever Winter Olympic medal winner from Japan.
It’s not quite the Sochi half pipe, but come to think of it, it’s probably much better than the Sochi half pipe! Why not check out the half pipe at Myoko Suginohara? This is the view this morning.
