Can anyone say ‘Bluebird Powder Day?’

Happy New Year folks and welcome to 2015!

The start of the new year has brought heavy snowfall in the valley, followed by crisp cold clear skies and sunshine.

Today I had the pleasure of riding Tangram, Madarao and Seki Onsen and the snow was perfect. Cooler temperatures have kept the fresh snow soft up top.

Tonight and tomorrow should bring light snowfalls with temperatures dropping to -11c. The wind will continue to blow at 25-35kph from the west. Saturday night the skies will be clearing with bluebirds forecast for Monday.

Madarao is reporting night skiing runs open until at least January 3rd.

Seki Onsen is reporting a full closure for the next 5 days for avalanche control.
