There is bad news unfortunately – some of the Myoko ski resorts were scheduled to open this weekend but given the thin base there will be some delays.
Breaking news! Late change to plans – Akakura Onsen WILL open tomorrow 14 December (see below).
If you are already in Myoko the opening ceremony takes place this Sunday 15 Dec at 10am at the Myoko Ski Shrine in Myoko Onsen Hoshino Park. This ceremony is to pray for good snow and safety for the upcoming season.
In the meantime Myoko is encouraging skiers to visit on national TV.

Scheduled opening has been set back to 21 December – subject to sufficient snowfalls.

Myoko Kogen Sky Cable (NO.21) & Hotels fifth lift (NO.20) will access the Hotels C course
Adult day tickets – ¥2,000, Elementary school students – ¥1,000, Seniors and JHS students – ¥1,800

Akakura Onsen will pre-open tomorrow 14 December ( 8:30 to 16:00 ). The only course open will be the Panorama Course in utilising the Kumado first quad lift. Day tickets will be 2,500 yen. Purchase at the Kumado office.
Otherwise Akakura Onsen is officially opening on Friday 20 December
One day ticket adult ski lift: Normal price 3,900 yen ⇒ 2,500 yen
Half day adult ski lift ticket: Normal price 2,500 yen ⇒ 2,000 yen
Children of elementary school age or younger get a free 1-day lift ticket
