Last Myoko Kogen Snow Report of the Season: 9th April 2012

Still getting regular snow in Myoko Kogen – at least 50cm over the weekend. Akakura Onsen and Ikenotaira Onsen have closed from yesterday but the Yodel lifts at Akakura Onsen may reopen briefly for Golden Week. At Akakan the Sky Cable Gondola and No 3 lift will operate through through to Golden Week (early May) whilst  Seki Onsen will remain open right through to next season! ;) Get in some summer skiing – hahaha…

Based on that we’ve decided to close the Myoko Kogen Snow Report out today. Not that, as you can see above, that’s any reflection of the snow quality in Myoko.  It’s been an awesome season but the weather is only getting warmer from here by the looks of it and the skiers much less.

We’ll be updating occasionally over the off season with videos and pics from this season so if you have one you’d like to contribute please do so on our Facebook page. Otherwise see you all next season in Myoko Kogen!

* Ed. note: Special arigato gozaimasu to the Myoko Snowsports crew (esp. Matty, Damo and Tom) for all their help this year – you guys rock! Do check out their great ski hire, ski school and photography options for the 2012/2013 Myokokogen Ski season

Myoko Kogen Snow Report: 30th March 2012

After a nice dump earlier this week there’s been a couple of quite warm days in Myoko with no snow to speak of. But as the end game looms here for many resorts there’s more snow on the way. As of today there is a still a very good base at most Myoko resorts (see below) and the snow varies between corn, groomed and a bit slushy. The upside is that the slopes are empty and there are many discount ski tickets to be found.

Suginohara closes up this weekend but other resorts remain open for awhile yet. Here’s a glimpse at Suginohara from last week.

Update on official current Myoko resort snow depths at base: Akakan 330cm, Akakura Onsen 320cm, Ikenotaira Onsen 220cm, Tangram 210cm, Kurohime Kogen 190cm, Myoko Suginohara 210cm, Madarao Kogen 220cm, Seki Onsen 580cm.

Myoko Snow Report: 26th March, 2012

It looks like that we can not put our snow shovels away just yet here in Myoko. What a surprise with around 15-20cm of fresh snow overnight and this morning. It was heavy snowing all morning and even down in the village big snow flakes were falling from the sky. Great conditions on and off the piste.

Some of the resorts have started to wind down now – especially Suginohara which has shut down until March 31st before it runs the gondola for some spring skiing. Don’t let that stop you from coming. The snow and conditions are still tip top here and there’s some discounts on lift tickets.

Update on official current resort snow depths at base: Akakan 335cm, Akakura Onsen 330cm, Ikenotaira Onsen 260cm, Tangram 220cm, Kurohime Kogen 240cm, Myoko Suginohara 260cm, Madarao Kogen 240cm, Seki Onsen 580cm.
