Myoko Seki Onsen Ski Resort

OverVIEW

One review stated Seki Onsen as, "a resort which understands the needs of the powder hounds." Don't go here unless you have a pair of telemark skis, an avalanche beacon, a St. Bernard and a very alert skiing partner! But seriously, the appeal of Seki Onsen Ski Resort (関温泉スキー場), open as late as May, is its soft and pure powder snow. In January 2008 Seki Onsen was Japan's only resort represented in the Travel Channel's "Skiers World" series (Episode Five). Seki Onsen is the home ski area for Masanori Takeuchi - a well-known Japanese snowboarder.

Although small, it's best not to ski off-piste here unless you are really sure what you're doing. Skiers and snowboarders love its 100% natural powder making it a freeriders paradise. Between its topography and ample snowfall, this is arguably the best place in Japan for powder runs. Seki Onsen Resort is perfect for those who desire a genuine backcountry-skiing experience with the best freeriding possibilities in Japan - without the crowds. To top it off the local village is unique, surrounded by traditional streets of days gone by.
