We’ve had some mild sort of weather since the last report but it seems things will get serious from this Tuesday with snow forecast for Myoko and Madarao. Check our Myoko weather page for more info.

We still have a substantial mantle of snow hanging around on the tops of Mount Myoko and Mount Hiuchi. The opening dates for Myoko resorts are mostly around 19/20 December.

It was a big night last in Akakura with a couple of the Myoko bars such as Castle Bar at the Windsor and the Skater Bar packed full. Something you would not have seen 4 or 5 seasons ago. Times are a’changin’ in our little town.

The midnight fireworks at Madarao went off with a bang (literally) last night. There’s an album of photos to check out on our Facebook page and hopefully some video coming along later.

I was up very early this morning to get the first Akakan gondola up at 6.15 and watched a beautiful first sunrise for the year at 7am with a cup of hot New Year sake. A big hi to Adelaide and Chris, first time visitors to Myoko, who also roused themselves out of bed early to join the festivities. Check out the album on Facebook.
